Desktop App
Install the db-studio desktop app on macOS, Windows or Linux. No Node, npx or terminal needed.
The desktop app is db-studio in its own window. It opens on the Connect page, and it shares
saved connections with the CLI in ~/.dbstudio, so a database you opened with npx db-studio
is already in the list.
Download
| Platform | File |
|---|---|
| macOS (Apple silicon) | db-studio-mac-arm64.dmg |
| macOS (Intel) | db-studio-mac-x64.dmg |
| Windows (x64) | db-studio-win-x64.exe |
| Debian, Ubuntu (x64) | db-studio-linux-amd64.deb |
| Other Linux (x64) | db-studio-linux-x86_64.AppImage |
Older versions are on the releases page.
macOS
-
Open the
.dmgand drag db-studio into Applications. -
The app is not signed yet, so macOS says it "is damaged and can't be opened" or that Apple "could not verify" it. Remove the download quarantine once:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/db-studio.app -
Open db-studio from Applications.
Not sure which Mac you have? Apple menu → About This Mac: a chip named Apple M… needs
arm64, an Intel processor needs x64.
Windows
- Run
db-studio-win-x64.exeand follow the installer. - The installer is not signed yet, so SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway.
Linux
Debian and Ubuntu
sudo apt install ./db-studio-linux-amd64.debStart db-studio from your app launcher, or run db-studio in a terminal.
Other distributions
The AppImage runs without installing:
chmod +x db-studio-linux-x86_64.AppImage
./db-studio-linux-x86_64.AppImageIf it fails with a FUSE error, install FUSE 2: libfuse2 on most distributions (libfuse2t64
on Ubuntu 24.04 and later), fuse on Arch, fuse-libs on Fedora.
Updates
On Windows and with the AppImage, db-studio checks for a new version when it starts and installs
it when you quit. On macOS and with the .deb, download the new version and install it over the
old one; your saved connections stay where they are.
Uninstall
Delete the app (Applications on macOS, Installed apps on Windows, sudo apt remove db-studio or the AppImage file on Linux). Saved connections live in ~/.dbstudio; delete that
folder too if you no longer use the CLI.
Getting Started
Run db-studio with npx, connect it through DATABASE_URL in your .env file or --database-url, and use the CLI options for ports, env files, and package scripts.
Supported Databases
Every database db-studio connects to, with the connection URL and limits for each: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, CockroachDB, TiDB, SQL Server, MongoDB, SQLite, Turso, Cloudflare D1, Redis, DuckDB, Oracle, and ClickHouse.
